One man chose Bubble Gum because trading baseball cards as a child was the only time he had felt in control of his life, having grown up with a controlling mother.

One woman, who had undergone a mastectomy, picked Campfire because the smoke reminded her of being in Tibet, a place she loved and felt safe in.

A child recovering from cancer picked Desert Sand because she associated it with meditation, the Buddhist religion, and a temple of healing.  Her happy place is in the desert.

A woman picked Hawaiian Lei because she remembered riding a horse in Hawaii and being happy.

Another patient with shame issues picked Ocean Breeze as her safe place scent because it reminded her of cleaning supplies and a clean house.

A pregnant woman about to give birth picked Sugar Cookie because it helped her connect to her goal of being a good mom. 

A man picked Campfire because it represented the fact that he can survive on his own in the elements.  This metaphor helped him realize that he wanted to be an entrepreneur and not work for a company and that he could survive on his own.  

Another man felt that the clean scent of Coconut made of him think of a clean car.  The patient had a tendency to feel bad about himself and felt the clean car represented his strong, confident self that had accomplished a lot, with all the negative thoughts washed away.

A woman chose Rose Garden because it reminded her to stop and smell the roses.

One man, who was a sex addict, chose Lavender to help him suppress his sexual urges.  He was able to shift from his urges because the Lavender made him feel calm.

A smoker picked Campfire because it reminded him of the smell of smoke and is using it to help suppress his urge to smoke.
